Capabilities 
Salient Designs provides in-house mold designs, tooling designs, and pre-production samples. We work with clients to select the right processes and materials for each product.

Salient Designs provides custom thermoforming for a variety of plastic materials. We will insure that your product will be made to the exact specifications required. In order to keep your cost to a minimum, our team of thermoforming experts are ready to help you with the design and choice of the best thermoplastic materials for your products.

Salient Designs thermoforming processes offer design freedom that allow you almost unlimited styling possibilities unmatched by other manufacturers. Unlike injection molding, our vacuum forming method allows you to receive similar products for significantly less tooling costs and shorter lead times.

Vinyl Lamination 
The secondary process we do is vinyl lamination, using the same vacuum process. A vinyl covering can be added to just about any thermoformed part creating a factory OE automotive appearance and feel. Vinyl lamination gives the formed plastic part texture, color, and softness.

Tooling 
Salient Designs builds tools in-house allowing us to provide you with high quality at reasonable prices. By manufacturing our tools in-house, we are able to design the value added engineering aspects into our tooling that affect efficiency and quality in production. Low tooling costs is one of the attractive features of vacuum forming when compared to injection molding.

Through math data, provided by your company, Salient Designs is able to quickly turn this information into a pattern. What would normally take weeks or months to create, can now be accomplished in hours or in a few days. With this type of pattern, Salient Designs is able to maximize your product's ability to make it to the market in a shorter time frame, thus maximizing its ability to sell while the demand is high.

Salient Designs uses a variety of materials for hard tooling depending on the type and shape of the product and the anticipated volume. These materials include “Repro” urethanes, aluminum filled casting epoxy, ren shape polyurethane tooling board, fiberglass, and cast aluminum.
