About Us

Salient Designs Inc.(SDI) was established in 1999 as a thermoforming company primarily servicing the vehicle conversion industry. SDI created many different interior and exterior parts for GM, Ford, and Chrysler vans and pickups for numerous van and truck conversion companies.

With the nationwide decline of the conversion industry, SDI directed its attention to creating vehicle specific overhead and lower console solutions for the growing mobile video industry. These products, along with the introduction of the one and only 15.3″ vehicle specific system for the full size GM SUV line of vehicles, has created a worldwide name for Salient Designs, Inc.

As the mobile video manufacturers have constantly altered their designs, SDI narrowed its focus on the vast number of companies associated with mobile video products and keyed on only major brands and created a number of overhead video system solutions for the mobile video industry. As these major branded lines have declined due to the OE manufacturers now offering mobile video solutions from the factory as standard options, SDI has discontinued the production of aftermarket video solutions and now only offers A/C Relocation pods for the GM SUV line of vehicles.

SDI also became a supplier to the Medium Duty Truck Conversion industry by creating vehicle specific interior products for Freightliner, International and Peterbilt trucks, these lines are on going items being manufactured by SDI.

In 2008 SDI entered into the Utility Vehicle aftermarket by creating and producing thermoformed tops for the Kawasaki TransMule and the Polaris Ranger Utility vehicles. SDI has recently added a full line of UTV Tops for the new Bobcat 3400 series Utility Vehicles and as well has added MP3 Player and Stereo Kit options to our line up of UTV Accessories.

SDI, as well over the last few years, has expanded its capabilities to include a variety of different products associated with vacuum forming. We now offer interior and exterior raw plastic and vinyl laminated products in the automotive, HVAC, industrial, home, aerospace, and marine fields. With the addition of math data capabilities and CNC routing, SDI is able to take information from such data and generate patterns for prototyping much faster and with more precision.
